Day 682: The Tide’s Still Rising

The second planning meeting for the second annual Rising Tide conference was held last night at Buffa’s on Esplanade. Thanks to all who came (especially those who live on that side of Canal) and making it yet another spectacular rodeo! The meeting minutes will be are on the Rising Tide 2 wiki tonight. Also, read the following and let us know how you can help.

1. Registration – You may begin registering here, even though it hasn’t been attached to the Rising Site website yet. Ashley, Alan and I will have a presentable website ready by tomorrow. There will be changes and additions in the days following, but at least you, dear readers, will have a concrete site to link to, visit and pass on to interested/interesting parties.

2. Panel #1 – Adrastos, once again, and Dangerblond will run a Politics and Corruption panel. For more details on the panel and what the moderators are looking for, please read Dangerblond’s latest post with request.

… Names are being talked about and I am interested in readers sending me names of people who can speak about integrity and what it means to be in public service, how much effort it will need to root out the entrenched corruption that slows every single thing down and makes everything less efficient. I’m looking for respected people who are not pushing a personal or political agenda, preferably not running for office currently. Who are these people?

3. One breakout session – topics include insurance, demolition of historic properties (hear that, Ms. Karen?) and … you tell us.

4. Rising Tide tagline – Last year, we were Unfatigued. This year, we’ll tackle what affects the citizens of Debrisville two years after the Katrina/Flood. Da Po Boy’s suggestion of No Holding Back is a front-runner, but I’d like to hear what you think.
