* Stephen Sabludowsky of Bayou Buzz opines that Louisiana Politics Is Murdering New Orleans And Road Home To Recovery, and, in the same article, states that “the federal government really is responsible to make the Louisiana citizens whole even if Louisiana does pitch in.  The Feds caused the damage and it is critical to rebuild the housing stock to spur economic recovery.” (emphasis mine)

* 68% Of New Orleans Public Transit Drivers Simultaneously Call In Sick

… The drivers have been working without a contract since before Hurricane Katrina hit in August 2005, said RTA spokeswoman Rosalind Blanco Cook … She said officials of RTA and the Amalgamated Transit Union were to meet Friday, and local union president Joseph Prieur had said he was trying to get the drivers to return to work. The union represents about 230 drivers, down from about 540 before Katrina.
