Playing wedding coordinator for friends is exciting and exhausting. I’ve done it twice now and, each time, I promise never to do it again, but the OCD-loyalty combo kicks in and … so it goes. Herding New Orleanians (and ex-New Orleanians and friends of New Orleanians) is a lot harder than working with cats. Cats, at the very least, possess curiosity and can be bought with fresh cans of tuna. But, the task was done and I can now recover from the wedding of Loki and Alexis, who currently honeymoon in an undisclosed location within our fair city.
The festivities started on Thursday night with bachelor and bachelorette parties – sorry, guys and gals, no pictures from the female instance of pre-wedding debauchery. That’s for us to know and you to envision, with one clue: girls’ night started at Emeril’s and ended at Saturn Bar and Golden Lantern. True colors never looked better! After the rehearsal get-together on Friday, several of us ended up at Pascal’s Manale for a seafood dinner, where we ran into Mike a.k.a. the son of Sophmom. A rather well-adjusted and enterprising young man, Mike was surprised (i.e. frightened) to meet two people in this town who know his mother’s first and last name. “Oh no, it’s my mom’s geek buddies and they have that tech-headed gleam in their eyes. Run!”
The wedding was beeeee-autiful. Ask Adrastos (who probably still reels from the wrath of my clipboard), Oyster, Alan, Becky, Lisa and Ray who were there. We couldn’t have asked for better weather, and the scrumptious petit fours were bested only by the groom’s Cthulhu cake. I’m sure Loki and Alexis have many to thank for their successful wedding bash, but these are kudos from my end: Much gratitude to Lisa, Renard and Ray for picking up the last-minute slack and acquiring drums in time for the ceremony, Gina and Cassidy for helping pick up, Amanda for musical excellence and moral support, and Cheryl, Sherry and Vicki of the Krewe of Chartreuse for being my life savers. Last but not least, deep bows to George and Alexis for this opportunity to share in a most important day of their lives.

You did a great job. The only thing worse than herding drunken nola rabble is trying to herd drunken/stoned burlesque dancers. Cats are easy.
It looks like you did a great job. Michael meantioned to me that he was surprised ya’ll knew my (and therefore his) last name. HUH? I reminded him that I stayed at Dangerblond’s house and that I certainly hope you guys don’t have spend the nighters without at least asking for last names. I can’t wait until he takes one of Dale’s classes! He said you definitely looked like you were having fun. I hope he took good care of you, and thanks for the shout out (somewhere, deep down, I remember blogging, I think).
