A friend spoke with Kirk Joseph a few days ago and was told that he suffered from a “light heart attack.” I don’t know what “light” means given that Kirk is still in the hospital and will not be at the head of the Krewe du Vieux parade this year along with his band. It is currently reported that “his band and either his son or another friend of his will step in” to head up this year’s parade.

And I heard on WWOZ yesterday that somebody was trying to set up a website for donations to help handle his medical bills – I’m still looking for that one. This city has gotta start helping its musical giants with more than just gigs…
