It is often with a wistful sigh that I think on Win Ben Stein’s Money and my favorite fiscal conservative and Visine spokesperson. Despite that the redundant superlative makes me cringe, my favorite new TV show is VH1’s America’s Most Smartest Model, and you know it’s because Stein’s a host. One girl did not know the square root of 144 and an otherwise intelligent-looking and brown-haired guy said he was not native-born American because he’s from … wait for it … California.
My favorite moment of Episode 1 was when Stein announced the departure of two contestants with “Make like the legs of a cetacean mammal and be vestigial” and the vacant looks force the other host to translate that as “That means you have to leave.”
(“Cetacean mammals” is redundant, too, but I’ll let Ben have that one because he was a White House speechwriter and I wasn’t.)
