Forgot to tell you about this “minor” news item out of Minnesota last week: Minneapolis Bridge Work Raises Costs, Rancor
… the governor and state lawmakers are arguing over the best way to pay for replacing the I-35W bridge that collapsed in August. Cost estimates for cleanup and reconstruction have skyrocketed from $250 million to nearly $400 million. The plan is to have the bridge finished by the end of next year ” just 14 months from now. But so far, the federal government has only delivered a portion of the money it promised to provide for the project.
None of us down here ought to be surprised. Nor should Minnesotans if they have been paying attention for the last couple of years.
