Last night, as bars of Unkle’s In A State played across the room, I thought: The British come up with the darnedest phrases. “She’s in a state.” Of what? What all-encompassing condition is that? Neurosis. Anger. Frenzy. Is that their equivalent of our “totally freaked out?”
