Extended Holi Day for New Orleans

This year’s India Association of New Orleans Holi celebration will transpire in the form of a 5K walk, lunch and the usual colorfoolery. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking: Since when have Indians mixed exercise with pleasure?

Despite their promise of “further details,” I couldn’t find anything on the IANO website, so here’s the skinny:

April 9th, 2005 (Saturday) 11 am to 4pm
Bayou Segnette State Park in Westbank Map
Call 504.736.7140 for directions if you can’t figure out where you are.

Members: $5/Person or $10/family
Guests / nonmembers: $10/person

My making it to said event depends greatly on motivation after the previous night’s Ugadhi (Kannada New Year) party and the gravitational force exerted by the French Quarter Festival on this side of the river. For the record, I got my fill of “hijinx and general hilarity” during Carnival and the Irish Channel Parade – can you say “Bhangaholics Anonymous?”
