Bhopal And Bears

Can anyone believe it has been 20 years?

Thousands dead, thousands more still dying. While some argue that the residents of Bhopal took their chances by living near this plant, the fact that safeguards didn’t work clearly shows the level of emphasis Dow / Union Carbide placed on its operations in developing countries. What about a corporation’s responsibility to the people who host its business? Then again, what’s several thousand dead wogs to a western business interest? The corporate Raj continues. That’s why it’s up to us, the educated, the conscientious, the able. Please join me in fighting corporate crime by calling atrocity and injustice as you see it. If we don’t do it, who will?

In other news, New Jersey has called off the bear hunt this season. The state’s environmental head honcho, Bradley Campbell, “has opposed the current bear season, saying the state should be allowed to manage the bear population with a contraception program and public awareness campaigns for residents who live near heavy bear populations.” Area bear hunters are disappointed that their opportunity to gun down these beautiful animals (and not for meat) were thwarted by the “whacko animal rights crowd” – wait, you whacko animal killing crowd, until Congress passes the right to arm bears.
