I Voted: The Storm During The Storm

Bush 256 Kerry 254
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!

It all came down to Ohio this time and not Florida. I managed to get my brother out of bed, castigating his state for holding up the “process” (read: Diebold voting machines). Useless reprieve comes from knowing that Bush was going to win and that I wouldn’t have been able to bear Kerry dealing with the imbroglio that is America today. However, precious beddy-bye time is going to be lost wondering which of our civil liberties will vanish and how the poor and disenfranchised will suffer over the next four years.

Go ahead and get it over with, Bush. Let’s face it, folks, if Kerry were to win Ohio by some freak turn of events, he would have to work against the grain of a deterrent Republican congress and the next four years would be his trying to revert everything Bush did (and what a losing battle that is). I take comfort from my mother’s words: “It’s time for Bush to sleep in the bed he made. If he messes it up further and the country is vulnerable to more terror attacks, these voters may see the light in 2008. If not, well, he did good and that’s what we want, right?” As a rebel daughter, I hate to admit there is wisdom in her words.

Before you leave flaming poos on Kerry’s doorstep, note that not only did the Republicans take the White House, but also won almost all of the critical congressional votes. America has taken a stand: We are officially a conservative, evangelical Christian nation that is going to be proactive and on the offensive, our economy, education and cultural heterogeneity be damned. If the majority that voted for Bush is willing to forego a flourishing economy and employment for perceived safety, do you think they give a hoot about enviromental standards, gay marriage, abortion rights, public education, civil liberties and the intentions of big business? They don’t want rights for their fearful selves, and damned if they are going to let anyone else get along with their lives.

Now, go ahead and leave a big, conflagrant turd on the front porch of Kerry’s campaign management. His operation was ineffectual, and he could have taken Bush and his cabal out on stretchers, but he didn’t. “Let’s see here, Junior, how many medals did I earn and how many do you have over there? Oh wait, none, because you never saw war action. Yet, you send soldiers to their deaths.” That’s just one example of what could have been, but alas, Bush was exonerated by some idiotic ink slinger at CBS. Talk about turning the sights on yourself and giving yourself one big lobotomy.

One piece of pleasure I take from this election is that no one can pick on Nader, and the accusation of the third party messing up an election for someone else. Bush is winning by 4 million votes, and there isn’t a thing Nader influenced this time around, even if he did last time.

One can only dream of a McCain – Clinton rumpus in 2008.
