Day 1280: Jindal Lied. What’s New?

But his camp admits it. So, there’s the pass to heaven.

Jindal had described being in the office of Sheriff Harry Lee “during Katrina,” and hearing him yelling into the phone at a government bureaucrat who was refusing to let him send volunteer boats out to rescue stranded storm victims, because they didn’t have the necessary permits. Jindal said he told Lee, “that’s ridiculous,” prompting Lee to tell the bureaucrat that the rescue effort would go ahead and he or she could arrest both Lee and Jindal.

But now, a Jindal spokeswoman has admitted to Politico that in reality, Jindal overheard Lee talking about the episode to someone else by phone “days later.” The spokeswoman said she thought Lee, who died in 2007, was being interviewed about the incident at the time.

Jindal could have talked about his impressive (at least to me) response during and after 2008’s Hurricane Gustav, which shows that government may be able to learn and get better through experience.  But, no. Oooh, let’s play fast and loose with Katrina facts, pick on the chump change that’s going to volcano monitoring and make up a monorail, and the non-critical thinkers out there will lap this soup up!  The sad thing is what he said is out there in the news and no manner of “but, look, he lied” can overturn a mind already swayed by unfounded and unchecked allegations.  The damage has been done.

Between the lies and the fact that conservatives are not the libertarians they purport to be, the Republicans lose me a little more each day.

You know the old joke: How can you tell when a politician is lying? His lips are moving!

Well Governor Jindal’s lips move VERY FAST.

    Peace,

    Tim

    Hey Tim,
    funny you! Hahahahahaha….
I thought your old joke applied specifically to the Corps of Engineers? I suppose the difference lies in how many more lips your Corps uses to spin your broken record at so many different speeds. Confusing. Maddening. Pay not attention to that man behind the levee. Now it’s the Governor? Oh that’s righ…his people have called your people to the floor for lying about costs estimates.
    Ooooohhhh, that’s the ticket!

I apologize in advance to Maitri.
I bring this up because what your Corps continues to do by shell-gaming the funding for our flood safety infrastructure makes our Child Governor’s soiree with the GOP look like Panic in Needle Park.

One Piece at a Time, Tim.
    One Peace at at Time,

Did you catch this gem from TBogg?

Conservatives are, through no fault of their own, grim social maladroits incapable of thinking or drawing outside of the lines, constricted as they are by child-like notions of “that’s the way it always been”, “different = wrong”, and whatever religious hoodoo was drummed into their inelastic brains during their joyless and awkward adolescence.

Libertarians, on the other hand, are just assholes.
