Day 1241: Dad

Soon after the previous post was up, I reflected on my other hero: my father.

This evening, as D and I discussed the sad state of our retirement accounts and current net worth, childrens’ college funds came up. “Looks like tech school for our nieces,” D joked.

“No way, not in this family,” I said. “No matter the cost to us, our nieces and our children will get the best educations.”

D looked at me for a second and then said, “Yeah, your dad would go back and work in Kuwait to make sure of that. And that’s a testament to his value for education.”

My dad would do anything for us. Martin Luther King, Jr. My father. And countless other amazing people who have sacrificed so much to keep this world going. It’s unreal.
