Question from the BBC: Is The Big Lebowski a cultural milestone?
My answer: Yes. 1998’s The Big Lebowski was the cinematic equivalent of what Nirvana and Soundgarden were to C&C Music Factory and Color Me Badd at the beginning of the ’90s, a breath of intelligent and refreshingly-malaised air in the midst of fluff and crap.
Don’t frak with the Jesus.
Hee! When you have a character such as Walter Sobchak screaming that he doesn’t roll on Shabbos-“Shomer fucking Shabbos!”, to be exact-how can it NOT be a cultural milestone?
Speaking of which…I’m now wondering if i ought to get one of these:

There’s always something to be said for a rug that ties the room together.
I love the beginning of the flick- everything comes from a peed-on rug.
To me that symbolizes American Culture.
… or his dudeness, or duder, or el duderino, if you’re not into the whole brevity thing.
And should anyone disagree with The Big Lebowski’s magnificence, I have only this to say: “STFU, Donny!” :)
