Lisa informs the NOLA bloggers that Kirk Joseph, sousaphonist, founding member of Dirty Dozen Brass Band and overall New Orleans music legend, “suffered a massive heart attack. At last report his heart was working at 20% capacity … send whatever love, good thoughts, positive energy et cetera in Kirk’s direction. If you pray say a special prayer for Kirk, light a candle, do a voodoo ritual, whatever. Just take a moment to think about Kirk and his music, his loved ones and the entire music community, both in New Orleans and the world.”
My thoughts are with Kirk at this difficult time in his life.
Oh, am I sorry to hear that; thanks for passing it along. He’s one of my very favorite musicians, and I’ll be sending all good vibes out his way. Please keep us posted.
Kirk himself called one of his band members (that I heard it from) and is in the hospital recovering from an apparent heart attack.
