I’ve spent an hour scouring the wide, wide world of internets for media (press coverage, write-ups, video, audio, photos) from yesterday’s anti-crime march and rally. Et voila. If you’ve anything to add, please leave it as a comment and I will update this post ASAP.
And, I swear upon god almighty, if Nagin states one more time on national television that “crime in this city is being met with state-of-the-art technology and methods but the criminal element is getting more sophisticated,” I am going to sic Bart and Karen on his pathetic excuse for leadership again. Crime in this city is being met with all of the wrong tools while the criminal element is more unstable and desparate after the flood, within a smaller city footprint. Is that so hard to fathom and acknowledge?
Tonight, D and I will attend the Krewe of King Arthur 30th-anniversary ball at the Astor Crowne. This is the beauty of New Orleans – the sky may be falling on our heads, but that isn’t going to stop us from makin’ a good time, cher! We’re far from fearless and happy, but even as far as my Hindu self knows, each of us has only one life to live. Bottoms up!

Pretty high-quality video interviews and the speakers themselves at Ariel Montage.
The criminals in nola are hi-tech? Not the ones near where I live, at St. Bernard and Marais. The thugs here are low-tech, when they stole my copper pipes (I had no water for 2 weeks?!), they just used a saw. When they stole the refrigorator out of the house next door, they used a hand truck.
Thanks for the links, dawlin’ Now I don’t have to do it myself. I’ll just send them here. Woo hoo.
The NYT and WaPo had some pretty good coverage as well.
Send me to deal with Nagin sweetie! I have a Katana and a Wakasatchi at my disposal.
Great links Maitri. I also just posted the pics I took.
Maitri, the pics are in one post. It’s the next post up from the NOLA rally post.
wow, thanks Maitri! this is great to have this in one listing!
Wow, you did this in just an hour? Thanks.
Kind of scares me to think what she could do in 2 hours…
Maitri,
Thank you so much for this catalogue. I’ve highlighted your work on our Feature Articles Page at P&M, after seeing this post on our NOLA Page, where your column is featured.
You and Loki do so much to get the word out, it’s amazing. The Citizen Journalism displayed over the March made us all very proud. Thank you for helping to get the truth out to the rest of this sleeping nation.
I love your banner!
