Yes, it was in bad taste on the part of the Louisiana Democratic Party to post personal opinion as a news release, but they were not ethnically or religiously mocking Piyush (Bobby) Jindal. Ding ding ding – straw man!
In fact, I think the LA Dems were trying to be respectful in stating his real given name, Piyush (which Chad Rogers probably cannot pronounce correctly). But, here’s where the DP and the Dems are misguided: What if it’s just a nickname? My aunt is nicknamed Bobby, she is referred to by both of her names and, guess what, she doesn’t take offense at either, which Jindal doesn’t as well. I’d much rather refer to the man as Piyush because it’s not terminally mangled coming out of my mouth.
As for religious mockery, Jindal himself has done it in the past by intertwining scripture and law, and admitting divine intervention in his political career.
What a non-issue. Find something else to fight over.

Well, it might be pretty to think that, and I wish they were, but… I think their motives have an impure edge to them.
