… and why we should stop him. Contrary to Oyster’s beliefs,
a. The Westbank matters, y’all. (Look at that map. Can you say gerrymandering, kids?) Karen Carter pissed off the folks of Gretna by openly castigating their police department for disallowing our peeps from crossing the bridge during the flood evacuation.
b. Harry Lee doesn’t like Karen Carter, I hasten to add.
c. Karen Carter may not be white, but she isn’t black enough for some of her constituents. (Try voting here, Alan Richman, and find out if Creoles are a myth or not.)
d. Derrick Shepherd endorses Jefferson, while Joseph Lavigne doesn’t. Who’s Troy Carter rooting for?
As a friend said today, “Looks like Jefferson’s gonna win. Ain’t that a shame. He’s caught with his hand in the honeypot and we can’t vote him out. And we’re going to be the laughing stock of the nation. Again.”
Let’s not allow this, folks. Just because Jefferson doesn’t have the common decency to put New Orleans first and step out of this race doesn’t mean we have to guarantee his intended outcome. Our germinating reputation is at stake here.
Carter seems to be leaning the wrong way on Iraq and Soc Security though. I don’t think I can countenance that. What’s worse. She’s was right about the Gretna police… but is now backing off of her statements in order to appease the Jeff Parish vote. This kind of behavior is just as morally indefensible as Jefferson’s thievery. I’m just saying… it’s hard for me to get excited about her as a candidate. I’m also still waiting to be entertained by what has been sold as a nasty negative camaign.. but that is starting to feel like… waiting for Reggie Bush to score touchdowns.
Hmm, sounds like you’ve been reading a certain uncredited blogger, M.
Adrastos, what a link whore! This is what I figured out by reading the news, talking with friends and thinking about it. It’s not rocket science. In fact, I haven’t even read your post on the topic, but will now.
