Day 569: NOLA Bloggers Make/In The News

* Adrastos: “WWLTV.com is reporting that the purpose of Governor Meemaw’s hastily scheduled speech slated for 6 PM tonight will be to announce that she is NOT running for re-election.”

Can it be true?  Will Blanco step away from a re-election bid?  And make room for … Mitch Landrieu … or … *dream* John Breaux?  Tune in at 6.

* dangerblond is quoted in today’s Slate blog roundup regarding Mayor Nagin’s latest mental infarction:

Artist Kimberly Marshall at Dangerblond is on the ground in New Orleans and isn’t buying what the mayor’s selling. “Sugar Ray Nagin is saying that he is the only thing stopping a Vast Conspiracy between the weather and the Landrieu family to keep black people from returning to New Orleans. Thank god the white Republicans came to our rescue and got him re-elected.”

Keep up the coverage, folks!

An out-of-town blogger that I exchanged a few emails with told me to link to WaPo over the NYT to increase your readership: because the Post owns Slate, Slate’s blog roundups link to blogs that link to the Post. I keep forgetting about it, and it’s still a long shot that you’ll be picked up by Slate, after all, hundreds, if not thousands, of bloggers must have linked to that story. Still, it’s worth remembering and I’m glad to see Dangerblond in Slate.
