July 10, 2006 – Two dead after blast in Door County, Wisconsin resort According to area friends, the blast is still under investigation, while the current theory is that a contractor ruptured underground propane lines in the area. The Door peninsula is one of the most beautiful and calm places in the world, filled with decent and welcoming people. This incident will shake up the close-knit community for a long while. You are from Wisconsin aren’t you — or went to school there?
When people ask me where I’m from, I start to dither, because I’m from anywhere in the northern hemisphere at any given time. But, yeah, you could say I’m from Wisconsin.
[I lived there for 5 years and managed to get two graduate degrees from UW in the process. Also, my bf was born and raised there, and has been back there since the storm. ]
