May 30, 2006 – Still breathing Midwestern air until tomorrow morning, courtesy of United Airlines whose no-fly excuses today included “Chicago weather” and “indefinite delay due to mechanical difficulties.” Heading for bed a few minutes ago, my brother said, “Nothing personal, but I don’t want to see you again for a while.” Seriously, how many times can one family drop off their New Orleans-bound girl at the airport only to have to turn around and pick her up again? Can a company be taken to small claims court while in bankruptcy?

Previous post: Day 274: Weathering The Weather
Lord. I’m supposed to fly UA on Thursday, and now you’ve got me fretting. This weekend, I was flying Continental, and in Newark, a Continental hub, I saw two dejected fellows trudging away from ticketing at 3 pm, muttering that there were no flights to Philadelphia until the following day. Okay, they decided to take the train, but the concept is so insane- Memorial Day weekend, at an airline hub, and there are no flights from Newark to Philly? Things are going backwards!
FYI, notes on how to sue in small claims court….

Part 2. In this case you will have to prove that other airlines flew into ORD, which they did, thereby discrediting United’s claim that the cancellation was “weather” related.
