We pass the Morial Convention Center on the way to work everyday. This week, the National Automobile Dealers’ Assocation conference is in town. D made two observations: 1) The Eye In The Sky is perched very visibly at the corner of Julia St. and Convention Center Blvd. and 2) We’ve never seen so many limousines at one conference. My explanations: 1) The City has to give moneyed visitors the perception of security against improbable, but not impossible, crime, while residents are held hostage and/or murdered and 2) “considering the challenges facing the auto industry,” the limousines are our bailout money at work, baby!
