Day 1229: Upholding The Constitution

A friend sent me the following with a comment at the end:

The fundamental purpose of the United States is laid down in the Preamble to the Constitution:

“… to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.”

In essence, the fundamental purpose is to assure the integrity and vitality of our free society, which is founded upon the dignity and worth of the individual.

Right after reading it, I looked up at the television to see Mary Landrieu raise her right hand and swear to uphold the Constitution of the United States.  While standing in front of Dick Cheney.  What a cold shower.

It’s unfair that we naturalized citizens cannot run for POTUS, but at least I am now qualified to be Senator.  A request: The day I enter politics, take me out in the woods and put a bullet between my eyes.

Dick Cheney administering the oath to uphold the Constitution. Wow. ‘Nuff said.

If Princess Caroline, you know, Kennedy, like, you know, is qualified to, you know, be a, uh, you know, Senator, then I think you are, you know, too. (Still waiting for the SNL skit where they skewer her for saying “you know” 30 times in the span of 2 minutes and 142 times in the interview…but I know that day will never come)

Sometimes I wish Komi would run for Congress so she could knock some sense into their heads.

Jon Stewart has already amply skewered her “you know” on The Daily Show, but it is obvious that conservatives don’t watch anything other than Fox News, so how would they know?

Also, a series of “you know” doesn’t quite trump “In what respect, Charlie?”

Don’t go assuming that we all watch Fox News…isn’t that sterotyping and stereotyping in the age of PC we shouldn’t do that. And the Daily Show isn’t News per se that most of the voting public watches (except for young people)…i was talking more ABC, NBC, CBS and the big papers.

A series of them may not trump “you know Charlie”, but 142…

No, you mentioned SNL, which isn’t news per se, either. And, of course, not all conservatives watch Fox News. They watch CourtTV, too. :-) Hey, if Komi knows US history and domestic and foreign policy to the extent that a congressperson ought to, can articulate her positions well, gives decent interviews and, most importantly, is willing to rigorously uphold the US Constitution, I’d vote for her, too.

:P I forgot that Komi can’t b/c she’s a resident…can’t vote, can’t serve on jury, can’t run for office…oh well. we will groom little miss _____ ____ Guillory (we got a name!)to be the 1st female Indian / Coon-ass president of the USA. By that time the US will be $999 trillion in debt so someone will have to get in there and straighten things out. Have a good weekend.
