Day 988: They Take Away Yet They Give …

NOT FUNNY: I’ve got your “education and training” right here, John McCain, you awful, misogynistic douchebag. Now make employers pay me what they pay a guy for doing the same work! And thanks for setting women’s rights back about half a century in the minds of your supporters. Ugh.

FUNNY (Thanks, Slate!):

This contained a video of a younger Bill O’Reilly (with a full head of hair) having a hissy fit during a break on World News Tonight.  As on YouTube, the administrators of Break must have been asked to take down the footage.  Someone should pare the video down to 30 seconds of crucial parts and repost. Aaaaand now for the Update:

Did you send him your resume? I’ve been imagining hoards of letters, emails, and faxes flooding his office…

    Total. Douchebag.

Holly, yes I did. At the very end, I stated that the only qualification I lack is being a man. To be fair, within my corporation, women at my level of experience are paid on par with the men. I just don’t see very many women in upper management (and god only knows what the pay discrepancies are at that level, or lack thereof).

This reminds me of something a colleague said about the dropout rate of married mothers from corporations. His points were that a) even the most super-qualified women will relinquish their career to take care of family and b) really, ultimately, the corporate world has little room for career-oriented women who hold their family in the same esteem as their job. My mother did both and SO WELL that it makes me wonder how she did it. My hat is off to her.
