Never a dull moment during this mix of makeup, theatre, beats, friends and bliss. D saw them two times in the last ten days, once at One Eyed Jack’s and then at Jazzfest with me, lucky dog.

In the olden days, I used to go regularly on Thursdays to stand in the corner at Fiorella’s to watch Bingo!. I think I managed to talk at least half of the people I knew to come to at least one show. But Jazzfest was the first time for Menckles and for r and Goldschmidt. About halfway through the set, Goldschmidt leaned over and said, “This is basically Cabaret. I feel like I’m in Nazi Germany.”
This is pretty much the same reaction my Dad had once. The difference there being that Dad had to extend the comparison far enough to conclude that we, in fact, ARE living in an analog of Nazi Germany… that the existence of the Bingo show is evidence of our general decadence, despair, and moral malaise under a broken and criminal system of government… blah blah blah.
Still the coke bottle thing was pretty cool.
Lordy, I still haven’t seen it yet. Must do so before Clint heads out to the Left Coast…
I was there too, Maitri, and it was the first time I’d seen them. I thought it’d be a little to avant garde for me, but I LOVED it. It was bizarre, but it worked musically and theatrically, and I’m eager to get to another show. I’m sold on them.
