Day 878: An Open Letter To Channel 78

The previous version of this note was written under the influence of excessive amounts of phenylephrine. Here it goes again.

Dear Channel 78,

As a viewer of your local access programming, I offer a friendly suggestion.

This is preaching that serves as a good model of strength and civil disobedience for young Americans today:

“I have the audacity to believe that peoples everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds, and dignity, equality and freedom for their spirits. I believe that what self-centered men have torn down men other-centered can build up … I still believe that we shall overcome.” — Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This, too, makes for powerful motivation:

“Sitting at the table doesn’t make you a diner, unless you eat some of what’s on that plate. Being here in America doesn’t make you an American. Being born here in America doesn’t make you an American.” — Malcolm X

The following exercise in self-promotion and a profound lack of logic will not keep the kiddies awake. In fact, it reduces my attention span:

An example: “You cannot separate Einstein from relativity, you cannot separate Moses from the Torah, Jesus from the Bible or Mohammed from the Koran. But, you say, Farrakhan, you have a defect. To that I say there is no prophet in any holy book that does not have a defect … So, god brought the message through me …” — Louis Farrakhan at 1995’s Million Man March

That is all.
