Day 863: Vignettes (Of Minor Inconveniences)

Fletcher Mackel reports that, in order “to get pumped up before the game, the LSU football team watched 300.”  This only reinforces Stephen Colbert’s notion that football is mostly about homoerotic rage.  It doesn’t stop women like me from watching and enjoying it, though.

The CityOfNO website is UTTERLY USELESS TRASH for anything other than paying parking tickets (and each page takes forever to load).  I wonder how much some web design firm ripped off the city for that fine example of How Not To Build A Website.

Maitri to D: “If you had a choice between living in 1875 Deadwood and today’s New Orleans, which one would you pick?”

D: “There’s not much of a difference between 1875 Deadwood and 2008 New Orleans.  Anything goes in both situations.  All in all, however, I like flush toilets and taking a shower everyday, so I’d have to pick New Orleans today.”

Houses, especially old ones in New Orleans, live and breathe in my eyes.   Beautiful old structures that have taken on characters of their own over decades and centuries make us seem insignificant and not so organic in comparison.

Then again, a house is just a house.  It keeps us and our belongings in and the outside out, and that’s what we pay for.  Therefore, I would like Tweak the Mouse (that is currently stealing coffee beans out of my kitchen – if you see a little furball twitching somewhere, stay away, he’s caffeinated and dangerous) and the vine that has broken into my closet to please take their business out where they belong.  Thank you and good day.
