Day 807: Visiting Canada Soon?

Do you know what 85 Canadian cents buys these days?  One US dollar, that’s what, which made my $5 coffee purchase in Calgary this morning elicit a cringe out of my wallet.  How long until our money is worth something again even if the stronger loonie now causes Canadians pain?

A tip: Try to get here way before midnight when all you want is to crash on the nearest bed.  Canadian immigration officials are surly and like to ask the same questions over and over again, even at 12:30am and you’re here strictly on business.

Off to Prince’s Island Park and then the Devonian Gardens while it’s 45 degrees out.

Enter the country in New Brunswick by car next time. They’re much nicer over there.

There will be no cars driven by me when I’m traveling for work. I’ve been to Canada many times and the border patrol / immigration just gets stricter every time. Our nation is no different.

Man, they didn’t give me any trouble last year, but that was Ottawa.

Go east, young woman, go east!

Downtown Calgary ain’t so bad – it’s like downtown Houston except at the base of the Canadian Rockies. Since today is Remembrance Day, the area is pretty deserted, i.e. a lot like the NOLA CBD after 5pm. Already digging the mass transit, courteous taxi drivers and +15 walkway.

Hey, Joooolie, I walked by the Encana building today, but have to say that Murphy Oil has the best outside sculpture.

The Devonian Gardens, eh? Is that like right before the Silurian Gardens?

    Peace,

    Tim

Just wait until we get our new digs built up there. Aww yeah.

If true to the geologic time scale, the Devonian Gardens would be after the Silurian ones.

New digs, J? Downtown or in the burbs?
