Day 789: Things Heating Up?

A reliable source tells me that a) Oliver Thomas wore a wire for his last few months in office and has good dirt on a number of folks higher up in the food chain and b) the DoJ is investigating our esteemed mayor for the purchase and sale of local property while using insider knowledge he wasn’t supposed to possess.

I’m no Oyster, Adrastos or BSJD, with all of their luscious scoops and background knowledge, and none of this may be true.  Just a couple of weeks ago, someone called me and said, “Hey, both of the Cynthias are going down.  What have you heard at your end?” and guess what – one of those Cynthias may be the next At Large member of our City Council.  I take these rumors with multiple grains of salt and wait for the Brooks-Simms-style incarceration.  There, too, what’s to keep these same people from leaving jail in five or ten years and going back to their old ways and means?

If, by some merciful act of the good lord, all of this is true and comes to light, this city is gonna essssplode.  And you heard it here first.

Wow. And from your title I was thinking global warming. Very interesting.

As Jeffrey observed somewhere, anti-corruption campaigns are no substitute for an agenda for change. We can’t expect the FBI to provide that. So if and when things essssplode, what can we do to be ready?

It’s the pie! The pie is esssploding!

Also… lots of “dirt” in this post. Wonder if we should buy it?

Your comment moderation doo-hickey weirds me out. I never know if anything I say gets posted anymore.

Bart: That’s what I was thinking, too, but more along the lines of once these people are out, how do we keep them out and not replace them with more of the same? We are yet to identify and agree upon those willing to take on the responsibility of public office in this city.

Jeffrey: Be assured that all of your comments show up here, once I get around to releasing some of them from moderation jail. I have no clue why some of your and all of Varg’s comments keep going to the moderator. The only thing I can think of is you don’t always use a computer with a static IP address and/or Wordpress is acting up.

Oh don’t tease, that would be sooooo beautiful! I keep hoping the feds have some master plan and will swoop in and arrest 75% of the leaders in Nola.

I thought it might have something to do with posting links in the comments. BTW the one I thought I posted still isn’t out of jail. But I may have screwed it up.

Oh there it is. Yay! My indispensable observations have been included!

This makes me want to vote for CWL in the Council At-Large runoff and hope for her indictment/resignation shortly thereafter.

Bart’s right. How do we keep from electing more of the same. As I repeated somewhere a phrase I once heard — no matter who we vote for, the government always wins — here, that means corruptible officials. I’ve heard the same rumors about the two useless Cynthias — at the same time that I heard rumors about Derrick Shepherd and, yes, Karen Carter. It takes time for these things to pan out.

If I could order the universe around, CWL would win the at-large seat, get indicted, step down, we’d get a do-over on the election, and Percy Marchand would win it.

Sounds plausible to me, M. Letten didn’t verbally whip OT’s ass when the thing went public.

What the hell is going on? I know our politicians are crooked but this is too much. Is anyone honest anymore?

  • matter October 30, 2007, 7:54 PM

I think there may be some truth to the Cynthias going down. That’s why I’m going to vote for one of them in the at-large. On top of that possibility, if Cynthia gets the at-large, then there’s a possibility someone who isn’t an insider can get her district spot. Whereas if Wacky Jackie gets it, we have another pig at the trough.
