But not quite. My current disposition is at a computer at the base of this mountain range (guess which one), some hills of which I will be hiking shortly. Just another one of those perks of being paid to be a geoscientist. I’ll be back in New Orleans this weekend. Await pictures and tales of elk mating.

Looks like the Tetons to me, especially if there are elk in the neighborhood.
I’m guessing that’s Monkey Hill in Audubon Zoo.
What do I win?
Await pictures and tales of elk mating.
Uh oh, what did Vitter do now?
Thou art in the Teton Wilderness, a very sacred place for me.
Please tell me you’re not out there spotting places for mineral extraction efforts, especially for the eastern side of the Hole.
Directly across from Mt. Moran there is a plateau at about 6,800 ft… a little stream runs trough small copses of trees. There are chipmunks all through the area and a Bull Moose and his mate.
I know these things because thirty years, almost to the day, I had to create a camp there in order to survive an Alberta Clipper. It took me three days to construct another way out from the one we used getting there. It worked, but I was left with frostbite to both feet after leading my two companions out.
Keep an eye on the weather as you hike around dear…
Wow!
Wow!
Did I just say, “Wow”?
Yeah, I did.
Enjoy!
My guess: the canadian rockies ?
Ron & Morwen: Yup, the Grand Tetons. No mineral extraction, just an expedition to a lovely location that enjoys topography, serenity and aridity. I’d move here in a heartbeat if it weren’t for the dry skin and nosebleeds.
B: You get an award for dreaming.
Jeffrey: I could swear one of the elk I saw was wearing a diaper.
It’s beautiful, but I’d prefer humid any day. Hope you got home alright.
