“Nothing is purely indigenous, it’s all mixed up.” — from Mitar Moina (Clay Bird) a film, set in post-partition, pre-independence Bangladesh, about a family struggling to balance tradition, Islam and western influences. It reminds me of what the United States has yet to fully accept regarding its own mixed identity.
