Day 587: First Draft Guestblogging

Today’s D’s birthday and a few friends are descending on NOLA to help him celebrate a very special number. This weekend promises to be amusing – Fahy’s and ensuing hilarity – and heartbreaking. One friend hasn’t visited for three years and Sunday will involve yet another misery tour when I drive through Broadmoor, the Lower Ninth, Chalmette and Lakeview, all the while angrily muttering about what hasn’t been done here. Update: Pictures here.

Monday starts a week-long business trip to Houston, where I haven’t been since returning from exile two Februarys ago. I’m sure the experience will be mildly weird, but made better by the fact that, starting today and for a week, I am guest blogger at First Draft, thanks to Athenae. So, if you don’t see something up here, go check over yonder.

Happy Easter to you and your loved ones. I’ll be glad when this holiday is over because humans in Easter Bunny suits freak me out, even if St. Peter was really a rabbit. It has something to do with emerging from the fear of flying monkeys only to watch Donnie Darko alone on a dark and stormy night. Hey, if nothing, I have interesting pathologies.

Funnies thing I’ve read in years:

“Stan: Look, I’m just saying that somewhere between Jesus dying on the cross, and a giant bunny hiding eggs there seems to be a gap of information.”

I hope the Easter bunny leaves me a chocolate Jesus.

Happy birthday to D. I think for his birthday you should get him his own blog.

OMG you’re coming to Houston! Be sure and call if you have some free time.

Houston! The city of my current presence!

Thanks for posting the photos. It’s been a while since I’ve taken the “tour of destruction.” I have friends coming into town for JazzFest so I’ll be back out there again, as we all should with our out-of-town guests.
