Day 498: Say Hello To Mr. VatulBlog!

Or should I say Mrs. D?!

We're Married!

There are certain things more important than blogging and one of them is the rite of passage of matrimony. As some of you already know by my own admission or through the loquacious Loki, I am indeed off the market. To the rest of you – surprise! On January 2nd, D and I were married in the Poconos of eastern Pennsylvania in the smallest Hindu ceremony ever hatched and executed by one with a family whose size equals the population of an American state (and I don’t mean Rhode Island). We then mini-honeymooned on the peninsula of Manhattan for a few days before driving back to New Orleans and all that it now entails. Pictures from the exciting Big Apple soon, I promise. Meanwhile, entertain yourself with images of my small phat Hindu wedding, especially me rockin’ out with my saris out. Blingy wannabes may now take lessons from yours truly.

Does it feel any different being a married woman? The wedding band competes with the engagement ring for space on my already-small ring finger and it’s odd to see a band on D’s hand that I placed there. Other than that, nothing really. Perhaps it will hit home when my readership shrinks on the official release of this news, or the taxman cometh with happier tidings.

To commemorate a new year and a new me, I’ve changed the theme of VatulBlog. Those of you who use Mozilla Firefox, and rightfully so, will stop seeing the “hinky” and “weird” lines to which you refer. Over the next few days, I will spruce up this space with my usual home decor, including my Flickr flash badge, Library Thing and other playthings and thingamabobs to which you have become accustomed when in my domain.

I’m here, married to my beloved and back at the grind. Salut!

Oh, and happy Carnival Season!

    I’m first! Yippie!

Congrats. Does this mean you’ll be too occupied to babysit? Have red wine, will travel.

You looked gorgeous darlin. But my particular favorite pic is the one of the henna-ed hands with the backdrop of the Guinness pants.

  • Sophmom January 8, 2007, 4:14 PM

Hearty congratulations, darlin’. He *does* have a nice smile and you look beautiful. I also like the hennaed (sp?) hands shots. I want that. ;)

    HINDU MARRIAGE POEM

    You have become mine forever.
    Yes, we have become partners.
    I have become yours.
Hereafter, I cannot live without you.
    Do not live without me.
    Let us share the joys.
We are word and meaning, unite.
You are thought and I am sound.

May the nights be honey-sweet for us.
May the mornings be honey-sweet for us.
May the plants be honey-sweet for us.
May the earth be honey-sweet for us.

Congratulations! I wish you both the best.

This is way belated as I’ve been buried at work for a while, but congratulations to you both on your nuptials. I don’t know if I’ll get down to NOLA this year, but I sure would love to see you and Alan and the gang again. Prost!

  • Michael Homan January 12, 2007, 1:38 PM

    Congratulations to both of you.
