Just in from Julie:
“I dunno if you read Penny Arcade – it’s a gaming comic that I quite enjoy. A few years ago, they started a charity called Child’s Play – the point is to raise money to buy gaming systems (and other toys) for children’s hospitals (and to prove wrong idiots like Jack Thompson that go around spewing about how video gamers are worthless people and gaming is the root of all evil, etc.). Tulane Children’s Hospital is on there, and in today’s update on the main site, they recommended that people that don’t know where to donate funnel their money in that direction. Perhaps could be worth mentioning on your blog.”
Well, it is. As a (recovering) Quake (PC) and Tetris (GameBoy) afficionado, I’m all for kids improving their coordination via gaming in moderation. Child’s Play uses Amazon.com to display requested games, DVDs and gaming accessories through Amazon, with the respective shipping address provided on the Listings page. The site recommends that “all items must be new and unwrapped. Please do not purchase used items or have them giftwrapped.”
I just purchased a little kid a Sony Playstation 2 Cordless Action Controller – hope he/she likes it!
