Day 380: Impromptu Geek Dinner Thursday?

New Orleans geeks, are you interested in having dinner with Dave Coustan, corporate blogger for Earthlink.  I’m aware it’s short notice, so we’re going to keep it as informal as possible.  This is a great opportunity to expand and share our knowledge of the availability and emergence of communication technologies and sustainable development in New Orleans.

Mark, Bart, Ashley, Loki, Ray, Schroeder, other geekazoids and wannabes, you in?  If so, please leave a comment.  Neither Alan nor I have picked a time and place yet; this depends on your interest.  I’ll update this post as things get clearer.

[Update: Alan informed me that meeting with Mary Rowe of Blue Moon Fund has moved to next week.  So far, it looks like Alan, Karen, Becky (maybe) and me for dinner with Dave Coustan.]

Sorry, I have to be cooking, etc. for some people coming over this weekend on that night. How late do you think y’all will be together and where?

  • Ray September 12, 2006, 2:22 PM

Depends on where, what time, etc. Gina has roller derby practice that night so I’ve got the kids, but I might be able to swing something. It sounds really interesting though.

    IKeep me in mind

  • Loki September 12, 2006, 6:23 PM

I’m in, but I am also broke and still don’t have a valid DL so if Ganesha smiles I might just make it. Damn weddings are expensive…..

I’ll see what I can swing on this. I have a Board Meeting tomorrow night and I don’t want Betts to whack me for overscheduling us. *rolls eyes*

  • Ray September 12, 2006, 8:34 PM

    Overscheduled? Us?

Morwen, what do you know about cloning technology? I need two or three more of me.

  • Loki September 12, 2006, 10:26 PM

I’ll take five Lokis and an even dozen Alexis-es when you get the vats up and running!

Unforunately, the prob with cloning is Replicative Failure. Constant repeating/splitting of DNA generation to generation adds all of the cumulative genetic mutations into the whole. This is part of what aging is about. (Well, unless you’re XX/XY or an alien such as my humble self.)

My private belief is that only through personality replication can the results adesired bu those of you above, can we truly “clone” ourselves safely. I cannot comment further on the topic because the FDA and the AMA will toast my buns if they catch me writing about this. (My contact/escape ship doesn’t arrive until 2057.)

I can’t make this….but I can sure as hell buy Loki drinks on Saturday night for his B-day. Who’s in?

  • Editor B September 13, 2006, 2:33 PM

Alas, I don’t think I can make it… but I’ll try to get together with Dave for a beer or something. Michael and I really wanna talk to him. Mid-City needs WiFi.

I think I can make it. Gotta run, so I can’t really confirm. I may call.

  • Loki September 13, 2006, 6:11 PM

I can make it if someone can give me a lift.

  • G Bitch September 13, 2006, 8:33 PM

I’m an interested wannabe but it depends on the time.

  • Maitri September 13, 2006, 9:16 PM

Alright, alright, Loki, I’ll give you a ride in the Maitri-mobile!

  • Chris Johnston September 13, 2006, 9:25 PM

I’m interested depending on the time.

  • Dave C. September 14, 2006, 10:10 AM

Sorry for the late notice on this, everyone. Hope to see you tonight. Maitri and/or Alan — I’ll be sans computer all day, so call my cell to let me know where to meet y’all.

  • Ray September 14, 2006, 4:40 PM
