Escanaba In Da Stupid Light

Of all the …

Bill would put Ten Commandments on state, local land

And here I thought Yoopers were cool! Why I oughtta!! Breathe, Maitri, breathe.

Two points:

1. Of what use is displaying the Ten Commandments if you aren’t going to follow them? Same as the utility of flying the flag and displaying the Constitution if you don’t believe in that for which they stand.

2. A nation founded on Christian beliefs? Do these morons even know that our founding fathers were Deist, and that when they referred to God and the Divine, talked about them in a spiritual rather than in a literal, fundamentalist sense? Regardless, the logic of a Christian nation and all of the assimilation it entails does not make any sense. This is why it expressly states in our Constitution that the state should not support the establishment of a religion. How about some Civilized Private Prayer time for people of all beliefs, eh?

Insecure retards among us! Hope the Supreme Court sees the light on this one.

Couldn’t agree more … It is the stupid stone tablets funded by Cecil B. DeMille as promo for his movie, The Ten Commandmants, that spawned all this crap! Breathe, Wallis, breathe, indeed!

Do you see why I have no interest in returning to the U.S. in any permanent fashion??? The fundamentalist tendency shows no signs of waning in any foreseeable future — if anything, they are still gathering steam. I don’t know how these people can reconcile their inhumane treatment of the environment, the third world, the future-beyond-the-next-four-years with their bible-thumping self-
righteousness. They are just a pack of short-sighted, intellectually unsophistocated bigots.

There! Did I match your indignation this time? I hope so because I sincerely agree with you on this one.

The Ten Commandmants had as much an influence in forming our constitution and country as did the law of Hammurabi and the golden rule … our country’s power was forged by bloodshed and the rule of the gun … why don’t we pass a law ordering the display of replicas of sam colt’s six guns on every government-owned property… I’m sure we could get the NRA to help fund that one… as well as Cuneiform tablets with Hammurabi’s code… Goddamn fundamentalists … what is it about their faith that makes their brains go to mush?
