Light posting ahead. D and I will be on vacation / proper-honeymoon-after-five-years for the next couple of weeks. Aloha!
We say that life’s too short for bad food, music, books, people, etc. Why? At the end of life, is there a reward for having avoided the sub-par? Do we lament that had we not watched Dumb & Dumber, there would be room for just one more William Wyler film? Do we wish we had eaten one more filet mignon and one less McDonald’s burger? Do we feel better that we are passing on having consumed only Quality? I don’t think so and, therefore, don’t understand this phrase “Life’s too short for …” Why do you think we use it?
Attempting the use of Asides again to record short stray thoughts that don’t warrant their own post. Styling this is a pain in the rear. Let’s see how it goes. We pass the Morial Convention Center on the way to work everyday. This week, the National Automobile Dealers’ Assocation conference is in town. D made two observations: 1) The Eye In The Sky is perched very visibly at the corner of Julia St. and Convention Center Blvd. and 2) We’ve never seen so many limousines at one conference. My explanations: 1) The City has to give moneyed visitors the perception of security against improbable, but not impossible, crime, while residents are held hostage and/or murdered and 2) “considering the challenges facing the auto industry,” the limousines are our bailout money at work, baby!

Upgraded VatulBlog to WordPress 2.7. The new dashboard is a lot like Flickr’s slick new Home page – all management utilities are available via drop-down menus on one page as opposed to tabs. QuickPress is sweet, but hotlinks have to be created manually and categories can only be added during an edit. Must be why they call it QuickPress.
Am I the only one who thinks a big enough deal is not being made in American media about New Orleans Police Chief Warren Riley’s irresponsible words and actions and JEEZUS CHRIST CHENEY AND GONZALES HAVE BEEN INDICTED (and I just found out on a Daily Show rerun)??!?! When I asked him if what our former leaders (into the Pit Of Doom) are accused of qualifies as RICO, D said, “No, it’s Suave.” I know, I married the man.
