Blair sent me a great video on the real story behind emissions trading, a.k.a. Cap & Trade. This scheme is effectively the environmental equivalent of the Great Bailout of Wall Street. Trust and finance the folks who created the problem to fix the problem. All to protect our lazy asses and the “free” market.
The false offsets are especially troubling. This aspect of the system can very easily be manipulated, resulting in the creation of more atmospheric carbon than we set out to reduce.
But, hey, let’s go ahead and vote it in. When have we ever not cut off our nose to spite our face in order to feel good about ourselves?
