Day 688: Absolut New Orleans

July 18, 2007

in food & drink, new orleans

Under the auspices of Tales Of The Cocktail, Absolut Vodka introduces its latest: limited edition Absolut New Orleans, with 100% of profits to benefit Gulf Coast rebuilding charities.  “A blend of flavors evocative of the city of New Orleans,” the site says.  So, it’s going to taste like a Hand Grenade mixed with Zatarain’s Creole seasoning.  The press release then refers to the vodka as having “a juicy taste of mango with a kick of black pepper.”  Mango?  And pepper?  Shouldn’t this be Absolut Bangalore?

What I really want to know is if there is a harmonica in every bottle.

May be decent bloody mary material.

What I really want to know is, should it be served with hand-carved gourmet ice cubes and sold for fifteen dollars per cocktail.

It better be 100 proof. Anything less wouldn’t be New Orleans. Besides which, you gotta counter that mango and pepper with SOMETHING that’s gonna give you a buzz.

It should be self-heating. Like MREs
